Teenagers
I know I don’t personally have a child, or a teenager, for that matter.
However, I do LIVE with one.
About 4 days ago, I bought my brother Xbox Live. Telling him that he didn’t have to pay me back, that it was my treat, he paid me for it anyways.
Yesterday, I thought, since he had been playing it non-stop since he’s had it (for the past few days, I believe), I thought I would ask him politely if I could play it that night (which would be last night, technically) and he said, “Yes”.
So he started to play it before dinner, and as it ended up, we didn’t eat dinner until late because my mother wasn’t to get home until later that night.
Right after dinner, I sit down and start playing. About an hour and a half later, my brother, after he kept on giving me ‘tips’ (more rather, bossy directions) on how to play Halo 2, decided that he wanted to play.
My mother, not knowing that my brother had promised to give me Xbox Live for the whole night, said that I had to give it to him.
So I did, but I let my mother know that Justin said he would lend his Xbox to me the whole night.
I know it was a trivial thing, but it really upset me, because I remember when he was younger (like in seventh grade) and I didn’t have a PS2, he would always let me use his whenever I wanted to and play all of his games.
Now, only three years later, I buy him the Xbox Live, going out of my way right after work to also pick up his Xbox. I just spent the entire weekend working on his computer, for what? For him to annoy me all the while I was playing Xbox Live, and also breaking his promise by taking his Xbox back?
Maybe I was being selfish, taking his Xbox Live for one whole night, but I thought it looked neat and I thought he wouldn’t mind, I mean, after all I did for him this weekend/last week.
Maybe not.
I hope he snaps out of this stage soon, because I want the loving, nice brother - before he became a teenager - back again.
