TRICK or Treat

Filed under Daily, Dorm Life, Holiday Spirit, Homework Blues //

…With an emphasis on the “TRICK”. :-)

So I am in a programming class, right? Where we have programs that are due basically every week. Anyways, the program that we are working on right now is called, creatively, “Program 4A and Program 4B”.

However, since they are two pieces of a much larger program, we turn them in together. Normally each of the programs is worth 25 points, but this one is worth 50 points since it is together.

Follow me?

Okay, so last week our instructor asked us to have Program 4A done, but not actually turn it in. Since my RA, Tyler, never goes to class and is a HUGE procrastinator, he of course doesn’t have it done. Well, technically neither do I, but that is besides the point.

So, since Tyler never goes to class, he missed the part where the instructor said that we turn them in together. Naturally, Tyler thought that Program 4A was due last Tuesday.

I just…encouraged it a little. I kept saying that we were losing points every day for not turning in the program, and that by this time we were probably both failing.

I am so mean.

So yesterday, Tyler was like “Jillian come on we have to get this in! I at least want a few points!”

Hahhhh, hah.

Tyler also normally gets, well, DISTRACTED very easily when it comes to programs. Last night, however, we worked nonstop on Program 4A for about 3 hours. :-)

I’ve never seen Tyler so attentive.

However, some of his friends from another floor came up at about the 3-hour mark, and the conversation went a little something like this:

“Sorry Jill but um we need to finish this up tomorrow - I’m not even expecting any points out of this program,” Tyler says as Brittany sits on the bed with Brian (The friends that came up).

“Oh okay,” I say, while Tyler tells me that he wants to be done with it already and wonders what grade we are going to get. Then, he asks me why I am so calm and understanding when it comes to putting off the program another day - don’t I know that it’s almost a week late?!

“Well Tyler, I have something to tell you…” I say finally, “Ummmm…The program wasn’t due last week.”

Tyler just stares at me.

“Well, it would help if you went to class!” I say, exasperated, “We are turning in both parts at the same time!”

Brittany starts laughing.

“Are you serious?!” Tyler suddenly finds his voice again.

“Yeah, but hey, at least we are three-fourths of the way done with your program now!” I say. Tyler just stares at me.

“I could have been studying Accounting!” Tyler exclaims in what appears to be a half-hearted attempt at being a good student. However, you and I know different.

“Haaaaaa, oh good one Tyler,” I say sarcastically, “You and I both know you would not have even started that program had I not led you to believe that it was due last week.”

Tyler smiles - he knows I’m right.

“Jill my love has renewed for you,” Brittany says, patting me on the back.

Dear Manchester Floor 7,

Filed under Dorm Life, Manchester, Personal //

First off, I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude of you showing your intelligence level by waking up the entire Manchester hall building at once.

How is this possible, you might ask?

Well, I shall now express what it might sound like to someone living in the dorms:

“NNNNNNRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR NNNNNNNNNRRRRRR NRRRRRRRRRRRRR NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR”

That, friends of Floor 7, is the sound of the Fire Alarm - At 3 in the MORNING.

So once again, thank you for showing your idiocy by spraying a fire extinguisher all around and fogging up your entire floor with toxic chemicals.

In addition, I wish to express my gratitude of you single-handedly ruining not one, but TWO elevators by taping the fire extinguisher in the ‘on’ position and putting it on the elevator.

Thus, eventually setting off the fire alarms, and making it look like my floor was on fire because of all of the ’smoke’ that had drifted up from all the floors (Since I am on the top, the smoke just pushed its way up and up to the top floors)

I also appreciate waiting outside for two hours in the freezing night-cold until 5AM and then forced to take the stairs up - to the 17th floor. This is because once again you showed your ability to act like mature college students and cause the elevators to become inoperable.

Now I wish to do nothing more than to go down to your floor and blast “We Didn’t Start the Fire” by Billy Joel all over your floor - to express my gratitude, naturally.

If you could also, please point out who did this horrible act on floor 7 so that we can cut off your reproductive parts, for you are now limited from any reproduction in the future whatsoever.

Yours in Faith,

Jillian
