Mall of Americans

Filed under Daily, Picture-y Goodness, Playing Around, Randomness //

Personally, I think “Mall of Americans” is a much better name - considering we had to park practically in the next state and I ended up smelling like other people’s body odor by the end of the day -

It was fun!

First stop on our tour is the amusement park in the middle of the Mall of Americans. Yes, it’s indoors! Those are two roller coasters (going out of the right and left sides of the picture respectively)

And LegoLand: Guaranteed to bring out the child in EVERYONE. That was pretty cool though, I have to admit. They had a gigantic working clock made out of Lego’s as well that I have a better picture of - you can barely see it in the bottom-right hand corner of this picture, however.

This is mainly to make my brother jealous.

They were having an Xbox 360 Guitar Hero tournament while we were there. It was pretty fun to watch the really good guys as they wound down to the final 4. Also, some of the ‘characters’ wandering around the Mall went and challenged each other in a “Play-Off”.

My favorite was definitely Mario and a guy named Sharky (the mascot for the aquarium) who faced off - they were both really horrible and it was funny to watch!

You can see the two big screens on the right-hand side of this picture. That is so that the people on the second and third levels can also see the top guys playing Guitar Hero as the finals proceeded.

After we wandered around the mall a bit, we went to the aquarium (still in the mall people). It’s the largest underground aquarium in the world - which is, well, pretty cool!

This is my favorite picture out of all of them because the fish on the right is blurry and the fish on the left is perfectly clear. This is actually in a HUGE tank full of Piranhas.

I dared Allison to put her hand in, but she denied. Bummer. Would have definitely gone on my next Christmas card!

Finally, we have the very last thing at the underground aquarium which definitely won the most clever award from me and the hearts of several children: the Nemo display.

What they did was they put a small aquarium tank and made an EXACT replica of the Nemo fish tank in that movie, complete with the totem pole, the crab, Nemo, Dory, and…

The starfish. It was in the PERFECT position too! Creepy, but also very cute. So it wasn’t the swordfish, not the piranhas that won children over. I mean come on! A separate tank full of piranhas! What’s not to love?

But No - it’s the exact replica of the Nemo movie fish tank that had children jostling to get to the front to view it and tap on the glass to try and make the starfish move.

Kids these days, honestly.

Hi Jillian! Glad you could visit our lovely state! Sorry you had to visit the Mall of Americans. I hope you got to see some parts of Minnesota. The MOA is actually its own country, complete with it’s own government, military, and currency. It was formerly governed by Snoopy but he was ousted in a bloody coup and exiled to the “Iron Range”- a MN version of Siberia. I don’t know who runs it now. Glad you made it home safe! My kids liked being able to pet the little rays at the aquarium and they would have loved the Nemo tank. Take care.
