Kaiko

Filed under Bluggin, Family, Personal, Picture-y Goodness //

I didn’t really have the best of weekends. Mostly because the cat I grew up with died, unfortunately. My parents said that if she were to make it through the weekend, that they would put her down because she was having so many problems. She died on Friday.

Kaiko was between 13-15 years old and died from Kidney/Liver failure due to a tumor of sorts. Now my parents have zero cats (my mothers cat, Kay-Kay, died last year around this same time of natural causes - that cat was much older). All they have now is a mostly-blind dog that walks into furniture. I wish I had the picture where I’m wearing tie-die overalls, holding Kaiko up (I was probably in fifth or sixth grade), she was really small. I used to carry that stupid cat around in a mini sleeping-bag (designed for dolls) and pile pillows on top of her to “keep her warm”.

I named her Kaiko (pronounced “Cake-oh” or “Kay-koe”), because at the time when my parents got her, Free Willy was a very popular movie. That is the real name of the whale in Free Willy.

[EDIT] Whoops - actually I googled it and got “Keiko”, but how you pronounce it is the same.

Good-bye, Kaiko -

17 Days and a Lexus

Filed under Bluggin, Daily, Picture-y Goodness, Thinking, Video-Goodness //

…and counting. This past weekend was fun; I spent over 2 grand buying new furniture, and then I had a hernia and no one was surprised. I mean, are you? No? Exactly.

Lately I’ve been feeling like “eh” when it comes to homework. Yeah, I’m taking 13 credit hours and yeah, I’m working 20 hours a week (more than that come to think of it), but it seems like I have all of this time on my hands. Gee, I wonder if that is because I’m waiting until the last minute to study for stupid tests and then wondering why I received a C on them. I’ll have to get back to you on that though.

Has anyone else noticed car commercials? I mean, REALLY noticed them. They are all over the radio, and when I turn on the TV I’m smothered by them. Not to say I’ve already picked out the car that I want once I start making money, because I have, oh yes. The Lexus GS Hybrid.

For a mere 58K, the 2008 Lexus GS Hybrid had better come with the mountains in the background. I assume that the GS stands for “GOOD SHIT”, and any otherwise I’m afraid I won’t take it.

So, this entry started out about the commercials and then Google overtook this entry because I found a LOT of pretty pictures of Lexus cars. In any case, I’m afraid I might be showing the analyzing/notice everything side of myself (my mother will show no restraint in blaming my father for this), but in either case:

You notice how in EVERY car commercial they paint over the license plate of the car? No, I’m not kidding. EVERY. SINGLE. COMMERCIAL. I don’t know how I came upon that knowledge, so don’t even ask. You either 1. Don’t see the license plate on purpose on the car (they cut away from it) or 2. It’s painted over. Usually a combination of both. I’ve actually seen a few car commercials where there is a black bar specifically photoshopped in (or whatever you want to say) onto the car license plate.

Evidence:

The only time that it is not painted over is when it is an international commercial.Exhibit C:

Feel free to sing words of praise in the comments section.
