I Hate BlackOuts

Filed under Dorm Life, Manchester, Randomness //

So yesterday, I woke up to my vent getting really loud and then…

Silence.

The power went out.

I quickly get out of bed (I was so warm too!) and fling myself out in the hallway where a bunch of people are congegrating. I go up to Tom (A guy on our floor) and ask,

“Okay so did we JUST go out of power, or how long has it been out?”

I mean who knows I might have been sleeping the entire time it was out and just woken up now and noticed it.

No, Tom says, and that it just went out about 2 seconds ago.

Of course, I hadn’t had a shower yet and I desperately needed to do homework.

Good thing I did my laundry on Saturday night. OYE!

I guess a transformer blew in the basement of Edwards Hall, taking out Hamilton-Whitten, Hewett, Manchester, and the three buildings in Tri-Towers.

Fun!

No, no not really. Power was restored at about 8PM.

First thing I did:

Take a shower.

Second thing:

Turn on computer.

Are my priorities correct? ;-)

Unfortunately, Internet was NOT restored until sometime today. When I got to work I was praising the Lord for I had Internet there! :-)

Oh yeah, I completely forgot that I survived another blackout in this stupid dorm.

Can I move out now?

Oh yeah, and after some searching a bit I found the posts from the previous blackout! Took me awhile because I thought it happened in the Fall Semester (August - December) when instead it happened in the Spring Semester, in March. ;-)

Dear Manchester Floor 7,

Filed under Dorm Life, Manchester, Personal //

First off, I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude of you showing your intelligence level by waking up the entire Manchester hall building at once.

How is this possible, you might ask?

Well, I shall now express what it might sound like to someone living in the dorms:

“NNNNNNRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR NNNNNNNNNRRRRRR NRRRRRRRRRRRRR NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR”

That, friends of Floor 7, is the sound of the Fire Alarm - At 3 in the MORNING.

So once again, thank you for showing your idiocy by spraying a fire extinguisher all around and fogging up your entire floor with toxic chemicals.

In addition, I wish to express my gratitude of you single-handedly ruining not one, but TWO elevators by taping the fire extinguisher in the ‘on’ position and putting it on the elevator.

Thus, eventually setting off the fire alarms, and making it look like my floor was on fire because of all of the ’smoke’ that had drifted up from all the floors (Since I am on the top, the smoke just pushed its way up and up to the top floors)

I also appreciate waiting outside for two hours in the freezing night-cold until 5AM and then forced to take the stairs up - to the 17th floor. This is because once again you showed your ability to act like mature college students and cause the elevators to become inoperable.

Now I wish to do nothing more than to go down to your floor and blast “We Didn’t Start the Fire” by Billy Joel all over your floor - to express my gratitude, naturally.

If you could also, please point out who did this horrible act on floor 7 so that we can cut off your reproductive parts, for you are now limited from any reproduction in the future whatsoever.

Yours in Faith,

Jillian
