ISU: New and Improved (with Herpes)

Filed under On Campus, Playing Around, Randomness //

“How many days until graduation?” Lauren asks me this question on a weekly basis.

“Thirty-three days,” I answer without hesitation.  She turns to stare at me.

“Not that I’m counting or anything,” I add, shrugging.

“Is it just me or are the freshman getting smaller?”  Lauren says as we come up on a group of prospective students being led like cattle around the campus.  An overly-cheery student worker wearing a bright red shirt leads the way, trying to keep the straying cattle in track by waving his arms like a windmill.

“You know what I’ve always wanted to do?”  I say, looking towards the group of prospective students, my eyes glazed over.

“What’s that?”

“I think it would be entertaining to go by a group of those people one time and say in a really loud, carrying voice: MAN THERE’S A LOT OF HERPES AROUND HERE!”  I say, looking around at the group behind us.  Unfortunately they are already halfway up the hill and didn’t hear me.

“That’s so bad…” Lauren says, laughing all the same.

Let Us Pray for the Deceased

Filed under Bluggin, Homework Blues, On Campus, Tests Suck, Thinking //

Yesterday, I woke up at 6:00AM, a nervous wreck about my Accounting Final. I put so much time into studying for that thing, I feel I like I have gone nowhere. I mean honestly, will I ever use accounting, EVER in my career? Probably not. Will I EVER need to consult an accountant? Maybe, but more than likely not! So where does this fit into my major?

Oh wait, it doesn’t. It fits into my MINOR - which, by the way, is Business Administration - just something to fall back on in case computers go out of style or something.

Needless to say, I took the test, and afterwards, I was still shaking. I went to the instructor during his office hours last week and he said that I needed a 72% on the final in order to get a C out of class - a 72%?! You realize that this means that I must have LESS than a 70% in the accounting class right now in order to need a 72% in order to get a C.

This semester in a word:

Suck-tacular-bitch-tastic-ass-kickin-whore.

That’s one word, right?

I honestly think that is how everyone is feeling. Between yesterday and today, walking through the quad, so many people and not a SINGLE person waved to each other. No talking on the quad, no laughing, not even a single bird chirping. I feel like everyone is going to the same funeral, mourning for their grade.

The only good thing about this whole semester, is last week my Multimedia Applications instructor called me up (he called everyone up individually) to give me my grade, and he said that I had one of the highest grade’s in the class. Which is a 99% - the only points I missed was 10 points on the Group Project, and 10 points on the quiz (he made each of the True/False questions worth FIVE points - and I got them both wrong, go figure).

Which basically meant that I would have to have received a 46% on the final in order to get a B in the class. I didn’t even study for that final and I probably received an A.

Oh, the inhumanity.
