ISU: New and Improved (with Herpes)
“How many days until graduation?” Lauren asks me this question on a weekly basis.
“Thirty-three days,” I answer without hesitation. She turns to stare at me.
“Not that I’m counting or anything,” I add, shrugging.
“Is it just me or are the freshman getting smaller?” Lauren says as we come up on a group of prospective students being led like cattle around the campus. An overly-cheery student worker wearing a bright red shirt leads the way, trying to keep the straying cattle in track by waving his arms like a windmill.
“You know what I’ve always wanted to do?” I say, looking towards the group of prospective students, my eyes glazed over.
“What’s that?”
“I think it would be entertaining to go by a group of those people one time and say in a really loud, carrying voice: MAN THERE’S A LOT OF HERPES AROUND HERE!” I say, looking around at the group behind us. Unfortunately they are already halfway up the hill and didn’t hear me.
“That’s so bad…” Lauren says, laughing all the same.
