Man, doesn’t it feel good that there is no school or work tomorrow? (For most of the population no work…)
It feels soooooo good!
Right now I’m in little ‘ole Lincoln - so far this weekend has been pretty good! On Friday when I got here I didn’t really do much. Yesterday my friend Allison and I went “out” for awhile and had some fun.
Today I basically lounged around the house until about 5PM when Justin (my brother) and I went up to Bloomington to do a bit of shopping. I ended up getting a hoodie that was one sale at Kohl’s and also Jumanji the movie from Best Buy for 6 bucks! I felt like I was ripping them off! ;-)
Okay, not really…
Then Justin and I decided to go to Monical’s pizza, which is right there across from Best Buy.
Well, the Monicals pizza people, after sitting us at our table in the middle of the dining room floor and giving us a few menus’, apparently completely forgot that we were there.
After deciding what we wanted to eat, drink and for appetizer, my brother and I just set the menus aside and talked for a bit. About 25 minutes later, my stomach is seriously rumbling, and I’m wondering if they forgot about us.
They did.
I’m about to go up to the counter and demand a waiter, but I see some serious whispering going on right behind the main door as it swings open and shut. A few panicky glances at us through the tiny window and suddenly a girl burst through holding a few plates.
“Has anyone served you yet?” Our new waiter says, looking frightened that I might blow up at her. I really wasn’t that mad, although I felt like I should’ve been more upset considering that my brother and I were contemplating whether we would have already eaten at Red Lobster had we gone there instead…
“Nope, not yet,” I say, looking up at her. She immediately sits the plates down and forks with straws and starts spewing apologies.
“I’m sorry someone sat you down but no one put you into the system as this table being occupied back there. Another waiter was wondering about you guys…”
“Yeah,” I say, admitting, “I was just about to go up to the counter and ask about our waiter…”
“Oh I am soooo sorry!” The girl says. I give her all of the details for our order and she whisks away.
“I bet it’ll take them another 20 minutes to get us the breadsticks as our appetizer,” My brother says jokingly. I silently agree.
Not 15 minutes later, the girl comes out with a fresh and very hot batch of breadsticks, which my brother and I immediately start drooling over.
“I’m so sorry about this, if you don’t mind me asking how long have you two been sitting here?” Our waiter asks. I take a glance at my watch and do a little math.
“About 20 minutes,” I say, which is the truth.
“Oh my goodness,” She says, and goes back into the kitchen. About 20 minutes later, she comes out with the pizza.
“Okay so we took the breadsticks off of your order so they are free, and your pizza is half off tonight, okay?” She asks, eyeing me.
“Yes,” I say, mildly surprised, “thank you!” She walks off.
I was personally very happy with this compensation. They did it very well and very fast. Sure enough when we got our check, it was only 11 bucks. I personally would have been much more upset if she had done nothing to try to get us some sort of discount or future discount to this place. Since they handled it very promptly, I had nothing to be upset about.
We left her 15 dollars total (the change for the tip…) and we were out of there!
Talk about excitement at a Pizza Establishment - and the food ended up being very good! :-)
